A Kent wedding

      Kent wedding photographer

Helen first saw my work when her friend Lauren got married many years ago. Then by coincidence a couple of years later I photographed another of her friends, Grace’s kent wedding. When she got in touch she said she had fallen in love with my work and knew she wanted me as her photographer. I was really sad  to tell her that I was actually already booked for their Summer 2020 date. But after some discussion they decided to move their wedding a couple of months and I was over the moon that I was free for their day. But we all know what happened in 2020, and again in 2021.  So after several postponements and the addition  of their second little boy they finally got to say I do on New years day!

It was a perfect day,  despite being January the weather was great most of the day and finished off with an amazing firework display. Thank you so much for asking us to be part of it and capture your Kent wedding

Helen left me this amazing review on google about their Kent wedding:

“If you’ve been looking for a photographer for your wedding and find Julia and You, BOOK HER IMMEDIATELY! You will not regret it.
Julia (plus Michelle who is also amazing and works with Julia) captured our New Year’s Day wedding just over two months ago and I honestly cannot explain how gorgeous our photos are. You know when you look at a photo and think, is that me/us?!

Julia and I have spoken a lot over the years as I was a Covid bride (we first start talking back in 2019!) and I would even ask for advice and opinions on things for the wedding in the lead-up! She was so helpful and friendly, so when we finally met in person I felt like we were old friends and so comfortable around her.

The turn around on the photos was so fast too and it was amazing to receive our highlights on our honeymoon!

Alongside my videographer, these three people captured the most beautiful moments of our long awaited day and I will be forever thankful I chose them!”

Over to Helen to tell us more about working with me and her day….

What  did you like about working with me?

As I (Helen) booked Julia back in 2019 and then Covid hit, by the time our wedding came round I felt we’d built a lovely friendship up; we would message about wedding advice or just a general check-in.  We did the zoom call a few weeks before and that all felt very natural too. When the wedding day finally happened, I felt like I had known Julia forever and therefore felt very comfortable and relaxed in her presence.

Julia couldn’t do our original June 2020 date and I was quite upset; I didn’t want to find anyone else! I kept looking and looking and couldn’t make a decision on who to go with. So, when we changed the venue and date and moved to September 2020, I was so happy she was available! Then because of Covid it was moved to 2021 and finally 2023, so again am so thankful and lucky she was able to make the final date we went for!

Julia also knew we wanted to be the first to share wedding photos online, so the NEXT day we were messaging and she very kindly uploaded four for us, as well as a firework reel. She went above and beyond and that was such a kind thing to do and very much appreciated.

Julia and Michelle are an excellent team and we wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to have photographed our day!

Which were your favourite photos and why?

There are some gorgeous wedding ceremony shots and we also love that our eldest son is in so many of those (the baby was asleep over the other side of the room). It was so lovely having the children there as part of our day.

I am obsessed with the ones of Chris and I under the veil (they are so pretty), the evening oak gazebo ones are lovely (the night sky looks stunning!!!) and the fireworks in the evening are truly amazing! There is a beautiful one where you can see all the different firework colours and it’s been my phone screen saver ever since we got the photos through, which we received really quickly may I add!

Black and white photographs are our favourite, so it was a bonus receiving every single photo back not only in colour, but black and white too.

The details and styling photos are gorgeous as well. I especially love attention to detail, so we’ve really enjoyed being able to look back at those pictures.

The ten table photos came out really well too; it is so nice that we have a photo of every single day guest who came to the wedding. A friend gave us that idea and I’m so glad we did it!

Tell me about your favourite memories (it can be more than one) from your Kent wedding?

As well as our family and friends our suppliers made the wedding truly phenomenal. They were all fantastic. Namely Julia and Michelle, our videographer Russell, magician Matt, The Neoroots Function Band, Bridie who made our cake, our florist Hannah, all the wonderful ladies who did the set-up (Poppy at The Glitzy Balloon Company, Michelle and Boo at Blue Sky Bunting and Sophie at Idyllic & Co), the photobooth team at Your Booths Kent and DJ Karl in the evening.

The fireworks were epic too and an excellent addition to our New Year’s Day wedding!

I was also very proud of my Dad doing his speech; he was so nervous! But it was fantastic. We love that we did something a bit untraditional with our joint speech and we thought it was brilliant that the best men speech involved some audience participation and shots of tequila rose!

We also loved how there were so many people on the dance floor until the very end of the night; I think as our wedding was a long time coming (we even had another child!) everyone was up for celebrating…at long last! Absolutely loved seeing my Mum up there having the time of her life, as well as our four-year-old niece who literally owned the dance floor!

We did a midnight munchies hamper which went down a delight, as people could grab a bag of crisps or chocolate bar for the journey home!
Everyone said the wedding was so fun and that is exactly what we wanted from the day.  It was definitely a day to remember for us all and we absolutely love our wedding photos, so a massive thank you for giving us some beautiful memories to look back on for years to come.
