When it comes to planning your luxury wedding photography for your big day I know the choices can seem limitless, particularly when you start asking friends and looking on Pinterest! So where do you start with creating your luxury wedding photo checklist? I get asked about this a lot – I know that you don’t want to miss out on any key moments!

Once you’ve booked me as your luxury wedding photographer, then I like to sit down with you and discover if there are any particular photos you’re keen to capture.

Perhaps you’re feeling a little nervous about being photographed all day, and I understand. I love to put my couples at ease, and will never force you into unnatural poses. Just take a look at my wedding galleries and you’ll see that I’m known for crafting effortlessly elegant, naturally romantic wedding photos.

So which photos should you have on your list? The first point is that it is personal to the couple. You do not by any means need to have a list. You have hired me as a professional to create ideas for you.

I do love to gather ideas on Pinterest, so if you have created boards there, please do send them to me. But do keep in mind that these will have been taken by many different photographers, in different light, different countries and climates. Pinterest can be so useful for inspiration and ideas, but not a definitive list. You can check out my Wedding Photography Inspiration board on Pinterest here.

It’s also great to keep in mind why you chose to book a fine art wedding photographer. You’ve fallen completely in love with the light, airy, whimsical style of pictures with a fine art finish, and so sometimes the photos you may have in mind may not fit with this style, but speaking with your photographer about this, we will always come up with creative ideas.

As for group shots, it’s great to have a list of the family and friends you want to capture, who you want to be in them and also checking you have enough time between any other events in the day, rather than rushing them is key.

We’ll walk through the timings of the day in a meeting before your wedding,  where we’ll go through all the details so I am in the right place at the right time to capture your precious memories.

When I’m planning ideas for your big day, I’ll often be familiar with your venue and if I’m not then I’ll do my research by visiting the venue ahead of your big day and think about how to use particular aspects of the venue in your wedding photographs.

As a fine art wedding photographer, I’m also keen to capture the light in particular ways, and I just love to capture golden hour – the hour between sunset and evening – with you two in your romantic wedding portraits. It is the only time of day I cannot move, so when we chat through the timings of the day, it’s worth making sure that nothing else is happening during golden hour.

It’s also important to let me know if you have particular special moments that you want to capture, for example, will you give gifts to your bridesmaids, is your Dad planning to come and see you in your dress for the first time, are you having confetti and when and where will you do it.

When planning your luxury wedding photo checklist, you may also like to consider the theme of your wedding and the particular details such as flowers, decor, styling, whether it’s indoor or outdoor and what you’d like a record of to look back in years to come.

Of course, the list is entirely personal to you as the couple and I love to take your ideas and create magic from them so you’re utterly delighted with the results.
