When you plan a winter wedding you can never predict the weather, but equally it always seems less of a surprise. So when you wake up to a mild day with the most ethereal fog, it definitely made us all smile.

The main event was held at Devonshire Terrace, in the city of London, it is a beautiful restaurant and open air space for their vows, a hidden gem just a stones throw from Liverpool Street station, surrounded by fairylights and iconic landmarks (like The Gerkin). I actually started the day at Bride Sophie’s, best friend Nikki’s apartment in Camden, which was styled like a page of a magazine and made the perfect backdrop for a calm and happy morning. Of course we were all watching on, as Sophie got prepared for her big day, and being naturally pretty, the hair and makeup ladies had an easy job. However the limelight did get a little stolen by Sophie’s new niece, Lily, although no-one minded, after all she is adorable!

I instantly fell in love with Sophie’s choice of dress, I always adore beading and art deco details, it was perfect for her. Soon it wasn’t long before we headed off to Devonshire Terrace to meet up with my partner in crime (and photography) Michelle and the groom Kevin.

After a swift pint in the pub for the groomsmen, the girls had arrived and it was time to start. The ceremony was full of emotion and a couple of tears for them both, it is always so beautiful to watch on as two people so in love get married.

Being a winter wedding photography for the reception always needs to be swift as we work with the light, as we cant leave photographs until after the meal. But with The Gerkin as backdrop for the groups and the biggest of smiles from Sophie and Kevin, our job was easy, before we headed into an evening with more emotion in the speeches, and then everyone joining them on the dancefloor. Sophie and Kevin are good friends with one of our wedding couples from last year, who are good friends to me too, Gareth and Kara, so at the end of the day we got to have a good chinwag and catch up with them too, the perfect end to a perfect day of wedding photography.
