Essex Wedding Photography – Houchins Wedding – Hannah and Kieran
Hannah & Kieran got married on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year. The beautiful clear skies made for seriously gorgeous fine art wedding photographs, and also sent guests sneaking into the shade!
Speaking of sneaky – guests were also stealing looks at their phones, as it was the day of England’s world cup quarter final. Watching the boys sneak an update where they could was hilarious, and I can honestly say that every guest was smiling all day! It was such a happy, relaxed wedding – everyone (including us!) was having fun.
The venue
This was our first time at Houchins and we fell in love, especially with the fields of purple flowers behind the foundry, which seemed to glow in golden hour.
We had a BEAUTIFUL golden hour, one of the best I’ve been lucky enough to capture in a long time. I feel sad we don’t get those every week in the UK, but at least it makes them extra special when they do happen!
Houchins is a Grade 2 listed farmhouse, with a rich history dating back to the 15th century. There’s so much character in this wedding venue. It’s a family run business and you can really tell – the staff are amazing and definitely contributed to the fun atmosphere of the day.
The couple
I first met Hannah when she was at her friends’ wedding over 5 years ago – Hannah got in touch because she remembered their photos and said she knew then that she wanted me to photograph her wedding when she got married! A lot to live up to , but I’m happy to say we didn’t disappoint; Hannah & Kieran loved their photographs so much that they finished their album design in record time! I cant wait for them to see it.
Hannah wore a beautiful dress from Pronovias and carried a beautiful bouquet by Kirsty Lack.
They had a glitter bar in the evening, which everyone LOVED. I would have snuck in at the end to have mine done, but we were back home to bed afterwards, so that seemed kinda silly!
A note from Hannah –
I loved everything about our wedding day. From the build up to seeing Kieran down the aisle, to celebrating with all our friends and family. It was such a relaxed and fun day, and I loved just seeing everyone have a good time and enjoy themselves on our special day. It felt like such a celebration of us as a couple with everyone we love around us.
Julia and Michelle fitted into our wedding perfectly. They knew exactly when to be relaxed and when to gather people together for the perfect photograph. We didn’t notice them even there most of the time, which has resulted in the most natural and lovely photos to look back on that really capture our day. Friendly, professional, accommodating, flexible, focused – they really put us at ease and have captured the best memories for us. Thank you for our beautiful photographs!
