Channels Wedding
Earlier in Spring we got to photograph Chloe and James stunning Channels Wedding in Chelmsford, full of the prettiest of florals and cakes. Although despite being April the weather was like a summers day, absolutely perfect with their stunning outdoor ceremony. Everyone was very entertained by the fantastic Fil Straughan and it was great working alongside Carly Brown on video!
Understandably with such a lovely couple The Times asked to feature their wedding, it was great to see it in print, but if you missed it here it is online – The Times Chloe and James Channels Wedding
Over to Chloe and James…what did you think if working with me?
When we decided on an Easter wedding, I immediately knew the aesthetic that I wanted for my photographs. I wanted a light and airy feel that would capture our spring wedding day perfectly. As soon as we came across Julia’s page we knew we had found the one, and when our wedding photographs came back we honestly couldn’t have been happier. There was such an amazing variety of relaxed shots and candid guest portraits, as well as so many couple photos and more official family photos. I was so pleased that Julia had also captured so many lovely photos of all the fine details too. A family member said “looking at them makes you feel like you’ve stepped right back into the day again” and I think that nicely sums up how beautifully captured the day was.
Julia was so organised and professional, and made sure that we got all the shots that we had planned. James isn’t always the most comfortable in front of a camera but Julia made us feel so at ease, I remember lots of laughter during our couple shots and just feeling so relaxed. My favourite set of photos if I had to chose just one would probably be the golden hour shots of the two of us. Thank you Julia for capturing our day just perfectly.
And can you share your favourite moments from your Channels Wedding day…
There were so many amazing moments of our wedding day that I’ve found it difficult to narrow it down – so I’ve chosen 3!
Personal touches by Sweet Nellys
The first special moment of the day that really stands out for me was walking through the reception barn on my way to the outdoor ceremony. My best friend and bridesmaid Jade (aka Sweet Nellys) had spent so long helping me to plan all the fine details of the day, and had created all of our wedding details such as favours, place names, table names, the table plan board, the welcome sign etc, and I had also asked her to completely surprise us with our wedding cake design.
On the morning of the wedding whilst I was getting ready in the bridal retreat, Jade was busy over at the barn arranging everything, and when I walked into the barn moments before the ceremony, that was the first time that I saw how it had all come together. Our surprise wedding cake was overwhelmingly beautiful and just the wedding cake of my dreams – everything she had created was so perfect for us. I’ll always remember that moment and I’ll be forever grateful to her.
Our Ceremony
Our ceremony definitely stands out as one of the most special parts of the day for both of us. In the weeks before the wedding I had envisioned that I might have felt nervous to stand and speak in front of so many people, but when the moment came I think we were both just in our own little bubble together and honestly enjoyed every moment.
We had written our own vows – which felt more in keeping with our relationship after meeting so young and already having been together for so long – so it was really special reading them to one another. All of our siblings were involved in the ceremony too which felt very special – James’ brother liam was his best man, my older brother Matt was our ring barer, my sister Amy was my maid of honour, and my younger brother Tom did a reading. Our ceremony was outside and we had perfect sunny weather, and it just felt so special to be getting married after so many happy years together.
Our Singer Fil Straughan
Another moment that stands out to me is our amazing singer Fil Straughan surprising us by serenading us with an amazing personalised song. He had secretly asked one of my bridesmaids for lots of details about our relationship. Such as the year we had met, how we met, holidays we’d been on etc and he changed the lyrics of ‘For Once in my life’ by Stevie Wonder. I remember we’d not long sat down for the wedding breakfast and were buzzing from the ceremony and then our entrance into the room. When he started singing that song I just remember being shocked and finding it hilarious that he knew all these facts about us. We were holding hands under the table and just laughing so much, I remember us looking at each other and feeling so happy. Such a special memory.
