How to pick your marquee wedding venue
Over the last couple of weeks I have been talking about all the types of wedding venues you might pick when planning your wedding. This week is last in the installment, marquee weddings. If you want to look back Ive written about Barn wedding venues, Country House wedding venues, outdoor wedding ceremonies, and last year I chatted about taking your photographer to your destination wedding, but there are just too many choices for one blog about destination wedding venues (the world is literally your oyster!). But today its all about marquee weddings, the blank canvas of wedding receptions. Perfect for couples with their own sense of style, for large weddings and for weddings at home!
Weddings at home
If you are lucky enough to have gardens with the space for a marquee then you have the unique opportunity to create a completely bespoke wedding without the rules of a venue wedding. Rosie and Alex were fortunate enough to be able to hold a beautiful reception in her parents garden. This meant they were able to style the day in advance and bride Rosie knew exactly how amazed her guests would be as it was all ready the day before. And their rose gold with white styling definitely did wow!
Holly and Ben also wowed with an amazing array of flowers inside their marquee wedding on her parents land
Wedding venue
Most of us sadly wont have access to grounds large enough for a marquee, but so many stunning wedding venues offer the best of both worlds with beautiful backdrops and scenery and the blank canvas of a marquee for the reception. It also suits couples with large weddings too as often traditional venues are limited on the number you can sit down but marquees you can often create space for lots more guests to join you.
Here are some of my favourite venues with marquees
Nettlestead Place
You can get married in their rose garden, hold your reception overlooking the lake and the manor house. Then wander across the field to their secluded marquee overlooking the Kent countryside.
Hedingham Castle
The stunning castle has a definite wow factor for your wedding service. Then head over to he house and their stunning gardens for drinks. Before retiring to a set up marquee wedding to create a stunning wedding breakfast to compliment your day.
Stubbers adventure centre
You might not realise but hidden behind the high ropes and activities is a stunning walled garden. Set inside pretty marquees make it the perfect setting for an intimate and unique marquee wedding
Boreham House
Grandeur of the house and gardens, then their marquee means you can create the day and style to be as grand or as unique as you are.
Air BNB
What about something that crosses both lines? Did you know some Air BnBs offer wedding receptions in their gardens. Woodstock goes one further and you can marry in their gardens under the gazebo. As well as hold your marquee wedding there, whilst you and your guests treat the house as your own, it even has a swimming pool!
