Tomorrow I am heading back to one of my favourite venues, I have been there lots of times over the years, and I always love shooting weddings there! So it’s no secret that Blake Hall is an absolute favourite of mine. It’s in my list of favourite top luxury wedding venues in Essex for a good reason – it’s absolutely beautiful.
With its 17th century barn and sweeping gardens, it makes an ideal setting for a fine art wedding photographer like me. It’s just down the road from me in a village called Bobbingworth near Ongar in Essex, it’s always been one of my favourites.
Whilst this venue may have the name of ‘Hall’ it’s really a luxury barn wedding. Under beautifully restored timber beans, paired with incredible natural light in Blake Hall’s restored Hay Barn, it is fully licensed for weddings. With a capacity of 150, there is such great flexibility with the guest list.
You then have your reception in the Essex Barn, with reception drinks or an outdoor ceremony under the canopy of the Old Saddlery.
Blake Hall Wedding – Exclusive Use Wedding Venue
When you book Blake Hall for your wedding, you gain exclusive use of the venue and gardens on the day with the staff completely available for you. In 25 acres of land, there’s a great choice of stunning spots offering the opportunity to capture beautiful moments between you as newlyweds. With pockets of woodland in its sweeping gardens, it’s a dream for a fine art Essex wedding photographer.
The house is hundreds of years old, and I just love a house that’s steeped in history. In the first World War, the Hall was taken over and used as a military hospital and again during World War 2, it was used as a RAF base. The property remains in private ownership and is managed by the fantastic Austin and his team.
Everything is quoted on a bespoke basis, meaning it’s completely catered to your needs, with a minimum of 50 day time guests and a sit down 3 course meal (or 2 courses plus canapés ) as a stipulation due to the size of the venue.
You really want for nothing at Blake Hall. A church is within walking distance, if you prefer to have a religious ceremony, there are no restrictions on confetti, and to end the night fireworks are permitted to celebrate.
There are also stunningly beautiful accommodation options onsite to choose from for the couple and their guests, and perfect for photos too.
