I adored this Estate wedding. The couple really went to town for their guests – they had crazy golf, a gin bar, a glitter bar, a champagne & oyster bar, and, like that wasn’t enough, a pizza van for the evening! You could tell the guests had a ball – how could they not?

Plus, there was a personal connection to the couple: I was lucky enough to photograph Beth’s best friend’s weddings and I will be photographing Beth’s bridesmaids’ wedding next year, too! A recommendation naturally means so much to me, but it can also make a wedding feel so much more personal. To have already met the couple, and some of their friends, means it really feels like you are returning to see friends for their day.

      The venue

We were so lucky, the sunset and grounds around The Granary Estates couldn’t have been prettier. I felt I could have been in Tuscany when looking out at the fields across from the barn in the evening. They were dappled with golden light and just BEAUTIFUL. Add in the gorgeous Beth & Adam and I was one happy wedding photographer!

Beth & Adam went for a subtle – and very elegant – Beauty and Beast theme. It’s one of Beth’s favourite films and they really did it so, so beautifully! It was the perfect them for their Estate wedding.

      The couple

Beth & Adam actually hadn’t planned to get married for a few years, but when they visited Granary Estates in February this year, they were offered 31st August of the same year, and got so excited that they booked it!

You could tell that their guests having a great time was their top priority, and it really was a fun-filled day. It all started at All Saints Church in Barrow (where the amazing CK Gospel Choir sang throughout the service, encouraging everyone to clap along!) and then old London buses took the guests on to Granary Estates. The couple rode with their guests in the buses, which I thought was a lovely touch.

Once we reached the venue, then all the stops came out! Guests played crazy golf, got glittered up at the glitter bar, and spent the rest of their time making the most of the gin and champagne bars – and dancing. Lots of dancing!

A note from Beth & Adam

      On their day…

“We truly had all of our favourite things as a part of our day and we are so lucky to have all of our amazing family and friends with us to celebrate.

“The vision we had of our day was all our family and friends in one big open plan space – everyone together. Achieving that is probably what we loved most about our day. We had the most beautiful sunshine all day, so everyone was together outside in the courtyard having drinks after the service. Then, once we went in to dinner, everyone stayed in the barn all day and the dance floor was constantly filled once the music started.

“We made sure to stop throughout the day and look around together, and it was amazing to see everyone together enjoying the day. We are incredibly lucky, as every single thing we wanted from the day we were able to design from scratch and create the wedding of our dreams.”

      On Julia & You…

“Julia and her team photographed our friend’s wedding – we barely noticed them there photographing the day, but then saw the beautiful pictures we knew we had to see if they were free for our wedding! Luckily Julia was free for our date!

“Julia was great at running through all the admin ahead of the big day, so that on the day everything ran smoothly. She arrived nice and early on the day and put everyone at ease right away – everything was captured so subtly and beautifully. Throughout the day Julia captured our couple shots and group shots in a timely manner, so we were not away from our guests for long at all. We felt completely relaxed around her and, for a couple that aren’t great at posing, she gave us great direction and put us at ease the whole time.

“Our ‘previews’ arrived a few days later while we were on our mini moon, which was so amazing and so special. The rest of our photos arrived around 3 weeks later and we couldn’t be happier with them if we tried. Every single moment was captured beautifully. We have no idea how to pick the images to frame as there are so many amazing shots! Thank you so much, Julia, for everything.”

A special thanks from me to Ellie Gillard, who came to shoot with me as Michelle couldn’t come along – you were a total superstar!
