The wonderful Lizzie and Matt married at Houchins in Essex in the early days of September. It was wonderful to be back since I last photographed Hannah and Kieron at their Houchins wedding. With summer trying it’s best to stay as long as it can, the clouds served as a blessing when it came to sunset, creating a beautiful backdrop for some intimate fine art photography portraits as their day drew to a close.
The venue
I simply adore the team at Houchins (and Houchins venue as a whole!); they are the nicest people to work with and are always there to inspire and to help at a moment’s notice.
A thank you is in order to Wayne for driving us around to the amazing hay bales – which is a little far to walk to (especially in a wedding dress!), but perfect for couple photos. Shots at the bales also served as an ideal moment for Lizzie & Matt to have time on their own, while their guests were being seated in the remarkable 1950’s modernised barn.
The Couple
These two were super cute all day long, both Lizzie & Matt are both quite shy and not used to being in the limelight, but their love for each other really shone through.
Lizzie’s hair was styled by the amazing Bridal Hair by Jennie and her make up by the talented AS Bridal. Both Jennie and Amanda created art, but with a bride as pretty as Lizzie is it surprising?
Lizzie’s boho dress was from the fab Rock The Frock Bridal, as was her ‘Hopeless Romantic’ jacket, which she wore down the aisle – it was so her! Sadly it was a little warm to wear much longer, but Lizzie’s Charlotte Mills shoes lasted until the party started – I loved these shoes! I also loved the bridesmaids’ dresses from ASOS – basically I was a big fan of Lizzie’s fashion choices!
The ever so talented Eileen Keery crafted Lizzie’s flowers – I loved the bursts of colour and textures in the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets. Their tropical theme was so much fun, it was such a colourful wedding and brought extra joy to the day!
Matt looked ever so dapper in his Tailored Image UK suit and Jeffery West shoes – I loved the leaf detailing on his tie, complementing their tropical theme! It was so much fun to photograph all the lush colour throughout the day, and it was all created by Lizzie and Matt! I think my favourite thing from the day was their cane chairs for dinner, supplied by Rock The Day Styling.
A Note from Lizzie
Matt’s favourite part of the day was the ceremony, the nerves and anticipation disappeared, and it felt as if it was just the two of us! For me, I loved having all our closest friends and family around us and how much fun everybody had together even though, for some, it was the first time they’d ever met. It was like one huge happy family. We loved every moment.
Julia And You was perfect for our day. Neither Matt or I am very confident in front of a camera, but we couldn’t have felt more relaxed with Julia and Michelle. So easy to get along with and I love how real every smile and laugh looks. No staging or having to perform for the camera. Everything felt (and looks) natural. We couldn’t be happier with our photos, and we’ll cherish them forever.
