Let’s be fair we don’t get many opportunities to have our photographs taken by a professional, so lots of us (including me) aren’t sure how the camera will see us and a little nervous about having our photograph taken. An engagement photography session is really the best way to get over those nerves, in fact the more nervous you are of the camera the more I would advise you go for a pre-wedding photography shoot. But if you’ve decided to go for one, the next big dilemma is what to wear. Most of us naturally head for the black in our wardrobe, after all we are constantly told it’s the most flattering, and in the real world that might be the case, but on film the opposite can be true. Black hides shadows and definition and often makes you merge into one, so my biggest tip would be use colour. My next big tip is to co-ordinate – make sure you match or contrast and styles sit together. You don’t need to be matching (although you can if you would like) but colours or styles need to work together. Think of this as your chance to be fashion stylist for the day for you and your partner.
