Im afraid this post isnt really about essex wedding photography, or even any photography anywhere, but it is about Love so I reckon that counts. Its Valentines day, its a day I have a love hate relationship with. I have never been a huge fan, even when Ive been attached, but when I was younger and single I was not a fan at all as I imgined everyone in a relationship was gazing into each others eyes at fancy restaurants. Then one year a group of friends got together in London and started our un-valentines day dinner and for several years it was one of the most fun nights we had. A huge group of us would generally book a table at somewhere in London like Pizza Express, not to be miserable or wallow but to have drinks and a giggle and remember how much we loved each other as friends.
Last year much to my husbands amusement I forgot it was valentines day, we had moved house that week so I got the dates wrong and thought it was the day after so luckily didnt have the embarrassment of not buying a card but it was just off my radar. This year I presumed we would do low key again, but to my surprise ian is taking me for a rare night out (thanks to his sister for babysitting!) to our favourite Chinese. But it made me think about romantic gestures, sometimes it’s the little things that actually mean the world. So I thought I’d start off a conversation (I hope you’ll join in on facebook) here are my top three little romantic gestures and none of them involve diamonds or even much money, but perhaps slightly predictable, so if you have any better ones for me let me know!
1. Breakfast in bed (and a long lie of course) this is probably the parent in me, but the ultimate romantic gesture is definitely being able to have a long lie in!
2. Chocolates – I am a complete chocoholic so I know this isnt for everyone but when ian comes home with chocolate – just because – I love him even more!
3. Being able to pick which film/Tv we watch (remote control in our house is a very prized possession)
So its fair to say I’m pretty predictable, of course I love a fancy restaurant or a night out on the town, I will never say no to exotic holidays and if ian wants to buy me jimmy choos I’d be over the moon, but just not for valentines. I hope you all have a wonderful day whoever you spend it with
