Ros and Raj get married {Rhodes House wedding photography}

At the beginning of May, myself, Ian and my lovely assistant Hannah did our first Hindu wedding, well a beautiful Welsh and Hindu wedding, despite photographing weddings for over 8 years we have never photographed a Hindu wedding so we were all very excited! Being Doctors Ros and Raj are both very busy people, so I had met them both for the first time at their engagement shoot and despite Ros worrying that Raj might run off any second we had a really good laugh, so I knew the big day was going to be fun.

The colours are truly stunning and the two services were both equally lovely. I started the day in a cottage outside of Oxford with the beautiful bride and her bridesmaids before we headed to Rhodes House for their first civil ceremony which was followed by tea and cake and our first round of photographs…

Shortly after which they both headed off to get changed and Raj went for a traditional horse march, although Im not sure many of Oxford residents have seen such a wonderful display of colour and dancing through the streets on their usual Saturday afternoon trip out.

The service itself was full of traditions and their Hindu priest explained the whole service beautifully for those of us who havent been to Hindu weddings before. After which the party started… drinks were flowing, Ros and Raj were jumping with joy quite literally!

Later in the evening Raj’s talented sister entertained during their meal with her stunning dancing before Ros and Raj hit the stage themselves, shortly followed by all their friends… which was hilarious!

Then after their meal they changed back into their first outfits for their second dance of the day… but we still called it their first dance, serenaded by their good friend and his band (who was pretty awesome!)

Their modern hindu wedding was certainly very different to lots of the weddings I usually photograph, I still love the country fayre style weddings but a bit of spice and colour is always fun!
The wedding itself was video’d by the wonderful guys at One Take Media, who I love working with and always recommend highly (they did our wedding video so I dont think you can get a better recommendation than that!)
