On the last post I “sneak peeked” Louise and Dean’s urban engagement shoot. Today we have the full blog post and here are my favourites…
We started in Southbank, and these curved windows just reminded me of the modernphotographic branding, and they made great frames for Dean and Louise… then we headed to the Millennium Bridge
So how did Dean propose?
Louise: I’d mentioned to Dean more than a few times about getting married and after a while I gave up thinking that it wouldn’t happen… after all when we first met I must have told him countless times that I didn’t ever want to get married. A different story to now as a soon to be married Wedding Planner. So when he booked a city break to Turin for my birthday, I thought it was just that… for my birthday.
Two days before my birthday, Dean had planned for us to take a lift up a nearby mountain but when we got there it was closed. Dean was adamant that we would find another way to get up there but even the buses weren’t running. I told him it was fine and we would go the next day. Little did I know what he had planned. In the end he gave in and we visited a place called Lingotto, an old Fiat factory converted into a shopping centre and also one of the sites for the 2006 Winter Olympics. When walking back over the bridge, Dean got down on one knee and asked me to marry him… I was the happiest girl alive. And the reason it had to be on that day? Because he proposed with a ring that had the date 04.08.09 engraved on it – the day we got engaged.
How are the plans coming along?
Louise: This Sunday marks the 5 month mark until our big day and I am happy to say that as of this week all the big things are booked and now it’s time to concentrate on the finer details. I don’t want to give too much away but we are planning a rustic chic affair with bright details set in the gorgeous countryside and most importantly it is going to be a wedding that reflects us as a couple.
Julia: when I was planning Louise and Dean’s engagement shoot I looked through a lot of urban inspiration but I was struck by a set of wedding photographs that feature the Thomas Heatherwick Sculpture, I love the angles, contrast and thought it made a perfect urban backdrop. And Dean’s red converse look great against that grey!
Seeing as were at “Love Lane” what do you two love…
Louise: Each other!! I love weddings (I run my own wedding planning business, Bow Occasions), shopping, and losing myself in a good book. Dean loves fast cars, comedy panel TV shows, baking cakes (he will kill me for saying that) and chocolate. We love going to gigs and festivals, spending Sunday morning on our bikes followed by an afternoon relaxing in a beer garden and our gorgeous ginger tom, Leo.
Julia: Louise’s brief to me was urban, but I knew her style was bright with a bit of fun, I thought Love Lane summed them up as a couple. When we were shooting a police officer started talking to us, not to ask us if we had permission but because he loved the idea of having a photoshoot their himself! He had recently got engaged and whilst he was often ion the area he had never thought of using “Love Lane” sign for a photo, we all agree its pretty perfect
Julia: After the sneek peek we had to include some more of that great yellow staircase. The sunny yellow sums them up, bright, fun and modern. I think we all agreed it was a fun photoshoot. Ian and I had a fab day with Louise and Dean, although it took a bit longer than expected due to the Lord Mayor’s show and a big campsite outside St Paul’ s… is there a festival on??
(only joking I know they were protesting before people correct me)
Signing off from Louise and Dean. Can’t wait to photograph their wedding in April… it was 5 months till the big day yesterday!
